Name: Resilienz: Das Geheimnis der psychischen Widerstandskraft Was uns stark macht gegen Stress, Depressionen und Burn-out
Author: Christina Berndt
Publication Year: 2015

Solutions: What kind of person possesses resilience and how can we enhance it?
Highlights:
a. No evidence shows that self-suppression can lead to cancer. Instead, it is being diagnosed with cancer that leads to self-suppression.
b. The society in Germany puts more emphasis on kids' social and emotional abilities. Take a conflict-learning activity for example. What should you do when you play on the slide, but another kid is right in your way down there? In this activity, kids in preschool will learn "What will happen if he doesn't get up?" "How does he feel at the moment?" "Maybe he's feeling unwell." "What happens if I'm on the slide?" "Why not inviting him to join with me?" Kids have the chance to learn to think.
c. Resilience is both growing-environment-related and gene-related.
Inspirations:
a. The book is based on the perspectives of a German (or a European), which is rather different from books written by American or British authors. This book presents many points of view that are new to me.
b. It is not that children sticking to their moms a few years after birth obtain well mental developments. For moms after delivering their babies, going back to work instantly doesn't make negative impact on a baby's mental health. "If so, the only normal person in the world would probably be the child of a housewife in rich countries."

The author included not only invisible characteristics but also scientific proofs in this book, which made it an exceptional book other than those emphasizing positive thinking.
